The Mystical Month of May always begins with the Celebration of Beltane on May 1st, which is the Feast of the Sacred Marriage, a time to honor the Divine Union of the Masculine and Feminine, Yin and Yang energies within us and on our Beloved Mother Earth. It is a time to honor the greening and fertility that comes forth from the Union of Mother Earth and Father Sky, masculine and feminine, a time to remember the dance that the Moon and Sun do each month. The radiant Light shines forth from the Sun (yang) and the Moon receives (yin) the Golden Light of the Sun, and from this dance between the Sun, Moon and Earth we have the phases of the Moon. So too is this same dance within us. As Above, So Below.
May 1st is also celebrated as Global Love Day, An International Celebration Of Humanity. “We are one humanity on this planet. All life is interconnected and interdependent. Since Taurus is the main astrological energy of May, and is ruled by Venus, it is very much associated with the World Mother, and with Blessed Mother Mary. In the East Venus is known as Maya, the mother of Buddha, in the West Venus appears as the feathered serpent God Quetzalcoatl who brought enlightenment to the Maya. Venus is also known as the Goddess of Love, Beauty, sensuality and relationship.

The Full Moon in Scorpio can be a time of deep transformation, where shadow material, or aspects of your psyche that are not yet healed, may come up in your consciousness for transformation and transmutation. At this time it is most helpful to call upon the Violet Flame of transmutation to blaze through your heart and Soul to transform and transmute these energies, and all that is not aligned with your Higher Self, all that is in the way of your Union with the Divine, to clear away any darkness, fear, negativity, or karmic energies that are lurking around in your psyche and in your awareness at this time. In order to be that open clear vessel to receive the Higher Spiritual Energies that will be flooding the Earth at this Full Moon a cleansing ritual is most fitting. With the Sun being in Taurus opposite the Scorpio Full Moon, staying connected to Mother Earth and your own body, the grounded, balanced comforting energies of Taurus can balance the intensity of the energies you may be feeling with the Full Moon in Scorpio.
In the Buddhist tradition, this Full Moon is known as the powerful Wesak Full Moon, with the Sun in Taurus and the Full Moon in Scorpio.
This is the full moon, according to metaphysical tradition, when the Buddha was born, attained enlightenment, and left Earthly incarnation. Mystics say that the Buddha returns now to help regenerate the Earth, and to bring new light and healing love. Esoterically, it is believed that the Buddha embodied the Principle of Wisdom and Light, and because of this illumination he carried, was named the “Illumined One”. It was because of Buddha’s light, that humanity was able to let in the Christ, who embodied the Principle of Love. Through Buddha the Wisdom and Light of God/Goddess is poured forth and through the Christ, the Love of God/Goddess is manifested in the hearts of humanity. At this time the feminine energies of Quan Yin the Bodhisattva of Compassion, and Blessed Mother Mary as World Mother are also felt very strongly.
During the Wesak Full Moon spiritual leaders gather in the Wesak Valley, a mythic place high in the Himalayas, where initiates arrange themselves in the form of a pentagram, (a symbol of Venus and the world soul), during the eight minutes surrounding the exact moment of the Full Moon, while they receive the incoming light of the Buddha. People also gather yearly in Mt. Shasta and at other sacred sites around the world to honor this most auspicious time. The Spiritual initiates prepare for the whole year leading up to this Full Moon preparing the Spiritual Energies for all humanity, and it is considered the beginning of the New Spiritual Year.
During the 8 powerful minutes of the Wesak Full Moon, the Buddha returns and pours forth his Emanations of Light, Illumination, Blessings and Divine Dispensations to all of humanity. So at this time it is most important to prepare yourself ahead of time with a cleansing ritual and to open your heart like a Holy Chalice to receive these Divine Dispensations that are pouring forth. Be as an empty vessel to receive the Light and Love from the Divine Realms of All Creation.
There is a five day period surrounding the Full Moon, called Wesak Safeguarding. This period includes the two days preceding the Wesak, the actual day of the Full Moon and the two days following the Wesak. The two days before the full moon are the days of approach and preparation. During these two days it is suggested to hold the awareness of dedication to service and to remain as receptive and open as you can. The night before the full moon is a special time for dreams, so watch your dreams and perhaps you may want do a dream incubation for any guidance you might need from your sacred dream-time and the powerful energies that are present now.
The day of and the couple hours leading up to the exact moment of the full moon is the most powerful and auspicious time, called the Day of Safeguarding. It is a time for spiritual retreat and contact with the Divine, a time to still the mind and find deep inner peace, and stay focused on the Light that is pouring forth upon the Earth. Open your heart to RECEIVE the many blessings.
The two days following the full moon are called the “days of Distribution” where we shift our energies from being inward and focus our efforts on distributing the spiritual energies that we have received to the outer world. It is a time to focus on your path of Divine Service. What are you being called to give to your local and global communities to serve humanity and Mother Earth at this time?
During this entire 5 day period is a powerful opportunity to align with the Enlightened and Illumined Ones, with the Ascended Masters, with Lord Buddha and Lady Quan Yin, with Sananda/the Christ and Blessed Mother Mary. What is so beautiful about the Wesak Festival is that it is a time of Spiritual Unity, a time to appreciate the Unity in Diversity, bridging all faiths as one and attuning to the One Heart. It is a very auspicious time for all humanity for our Spiritual Growth and our movement into Oneness, a time to move beyond spiritual differences and honor the many paths that lead us back to the same Universal Source.
During the Wesak Festival there is always a “water ceremony of communion” where people bring their sacred vessels of water to be blessed by the energies. Water is the symbol of the New Age of Aquarius, as Aquarius is portrayed as the Water Bearer. If you look at the constellation of Aquarius you will see the water bearer pouring her elixir down towards the earth. The symbolism is that of a servant of humanity pouring out the water of knowledge and wisdom to quench the thirst of humanity.
At this most powerful Full Moon it is also a time to speak our deepest truths and visions for the New Earth, to let our voices be heard about what we want to see manifest in our world. May 9th-May 11th: RE-BIRTH CELEBRATION: THE MID-POINT OF THE 6th DAY OF THE GALACTIC CYCLE OF THE MAYAN CALENDAR: “A global collaboration of people who share compassion as a common passion.”
The *sixth day, which began on November 13th, 2008, and ends November 5th, 2009, is considered the Time of Flowering and is ruled by the Mayan Goddess, Yohualticitl. This is considered a time of unifying, where earth changes may still be difficult but where simplicity will become more and more important. It is also a time, according to Calleman, where there could be a “Renaissance of advanced unifying synthesis; tense coexistence of East and West and between the New Spirituality and the remnants of the global materialistic power.”
The mid-point of the *Sixth Day of the Galactic Cycle falls on Monday, May 11th on the day of the Mayan energy of 10 Ahau. Ahau is a very powerful Spiritual energy that embodies the energies of the Sun, wholeness, unity, Christ Consciousness, ascension, and unconditional love. Ten is a number of aligned manifestation, intention and motivation. So as you can imagine this mid-point is a potent opportunity for us to manifest our aligned intentions for our personal and collective path of enlightenment and spiritual flowering.
